William Shatner’s Brown Bag Wine Tasting

The media is abuzz over William Shatner’s web series, Brown Bag Wine Tasting, on Ora TV. The series is made up of one-on-one videos that have Captain Kirk sitting down with a person (some celebs, some not) discussing their job while doing a blind wine tasting.

The show was recently featured in Wine Spectator, Food and Wine and other prestigious publications. And the interesting thing they all say is that you don’t have to be a Trekkie to enjoy Shatner as he pulls out amazing sound bites from everyone he talks to. In addition to drinking some good wine, many from here in Napa, he says his goal is to explore the psyche of his guests.

“I’m using wine as a way to explore the psyche of each of my guests,” said Shatner in a press release.

Actor and children’s educator LeVar Burton sat down with him to talk about family and kids, describing what turned out to be a 2013 Napa Valley St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc as a child who “has manners and knows how to conduct itself in public.” Chef and TV personality Alton Brown created a “food word mosaic” for Mumm Napa Brut Napa Valley Prestige NV: “3 tablespoons of butter, crush up 1 tablespoon of Butterfinger bar, an Amalfi lemon … add fresh yard clippings … and 1 green cardamom pod.” New episodes premiere Mondays at http://www.Ora.TV.

Going boldly to Napa vineyards – experts ask could William Shatner’s web series, Brown Bag Wine Tasting be the next big thing in wine? That could be but one thing is certain, some of the best wine varietals can be found in this part of the world.
