The latest news hot off the Press is that Cindy Pawlcyn is closing her Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen on July 7. The restaurant has been in operation since 2002. Cindy reports that she had no plans to close the restaurant which is located next door to Terra which also closed last month, but she got an offer on the building that she could not refuse. The offer apparently came in from a local, well respected entrepreneur. Rumors are swirling about who the buyer is and his future plans. So I will report on that as soon as it’s official. Meanwhile, Cindy is planning to open a second Mustard’s Grill at San Francisco’s International Airport later this summer.
Ma(i)sonry in Yountville, owned by Restoration Hardware, is temporarily closed while it is being renovated. They expect to re-open in October with the launch of the new RH Yountville Café and Gallery campus adjacent to the historic building. I spoke with Lynn Goldberg the Planning Director at City of Calistoga. Lynn advised that building plans for Rosewood Resort and Homes have not been submitted yet. The owners are apparently doing massive infrastructure up on the hill which include twenty foot retaining walls. Funding has been approved for the lights going in at Petrified Forest Road and they are currently in design phase. Meanwhile, the Environmental Review Report has been completed for the proposed new service station, car wash, restaurant and convenience store at the corner of Petrified Forest Road and Highway 128 and will be available for public comment in August.
I hope to see you at the many fabulous Napa Valley Festival performances that will take place from July 20 to July 29. Enjoy the rest of the newsletter.
